Goodwill: a disposition to kindness and compassion

Today is Grow Your Blog party day. It couldn't have come at a better time. Clink on the image to find out more and meet the lovely Vicki who organised it all.

Welcome to my brand new blog. A little over a year ago, I was learning, like many of you, about the terrible events at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. I struggled to come to terms with the tragedy. After much thought I decided I would like to promote the idea of goodwill. To encourage people to practice kindness and compassion in the everyday conduct of their lives.

As the subtitle suggests this is a place for people of goodwill to come together. To share ideas, seek advice, show support and promote the idea of goodwill. To find ways of planting seeds of goodwill, i.e. kindness and compassion, wherever they see a need. Seeds are small but can grow and spread over large areas. This blog is my tiny seed. I hope you will join me in planting more,  Susan

P.S.You can help spread the idea of goodwill by displaying my button. The link is lower down on the left hand side of the page.

As part of Vicki's blog party I am giving away three pendants, designed exclusively for Goodwill Seeds. To enter leave a comment and mention which one you prefer. I will post the names of the winners on Feb 15th.

The pendants were made for me by Jana at Modern Artifacts. When I went to pick them up she had made one just for me. What a sweetheart. Please visit her site, click on photos, then albums, to see her beautiful work.

  12. A wonderful idea for a blog, Susan! This world would be a much better place if we all showed more compassion to others. A month after the Sandy Hook tragedy last year, I experienced a random act of kindness. I had taken three of my grandchildren out to eat after a movie, and when I went to pay the check, the server told me it had already been paid. I'm a little dense, so it took me awhile to understand that a complete stranger had paid it. I could easily have paid it myself, but it struck me as such a kind thing to do, with no recognition for them, that it put me in a good mood for days. Even more, my grandchildren were so impressed--it really taught them a lesson that there are still so many good people out there.

Good luck with your blog! And goodness, I didn't come for a giveaway, but I do love all these pendants, especially the darker blue stone.

  28. what a wonderful idea for a blog. I will be following and visiting often. I just love the pendant on the top left with that beautiful dark blue color. I think that spreading goodwill is such a simple thing to do and yet so many of us get so wrapped up in our own lives that we forget how important our good will is.

  29. What a great name and thought for a blog. I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted to get to know you . Planting good will is something that I have a real committment to in my own life. Your giveaway is lovely, and hope that you find many new followers at this party. it is so fun to have people that you are meeting in the blog world. If I was one of the 'winners" I would choose the light blue and green with the seed tree on it. It is so representative of your blog name. Looking forward to seeing more of your thinking on your blog! So I am your newest follower

  30. Okay, wow, this is an amazingly fantastic idea. I love this, Susan. I really, really do. Thank you for visiting me at my blog today for the GYB party Vicki is hosting. I'm so happy you did. I would love to be a part of this. It's difficult for me to come up with ideas to make people's days brighter and to get inspiration like this would be absolutely wonderful and if I could offer any from time to time I would love to. I'm incredibly shy and incredibly introverted and my family is a quiet one. But I often think of how it would be nice to spread the happies around because I love it when people are happy and feel special. We do things like donate to local places who have people in need, but to do more would be great. Thank you for this opportunity and for thinking up something like this. I'm definitely putting your button on my blog. Bright blessings and warm wishes, Bird

  63. What a wonderful idea, planting seeds of kindness! One of the things I hope to add to my blog is some snippets of GOOD news as opposed to the sensationalized horrors that are publicized every day in the news we watch on tv. Your blog fits right in with that idea.
So glad you joined the GYB party! I will be following you, may I link to your blog as I get more into the swing of my good news blogging?
